FAQ's

FAQ

Is the sunbed ok for anyone?

No, it isn’t.  You have to be over 18 to use our sunbed, and we wouldn’t advise someone with fair skin that is prone to burning to use the sunbed either

How often can I use the sunbed?

You can only use the sunbed once in a 24 hour period, although we wouldn’t advise more than 3-4 times a week.

Do you offer course of sunbed treatment?

Yes, we do.  Details of that are on our price list.

Do I need to wear goggles?

Yes, we offer goggles for sale in salon, and once purchased they stay with you.  It is important to protect your eyes from any effects from UV.

Are there any contra-indications to using the sunbed?

There are some people that would not be allowed to use the sunbed.  If you are under 18 or suffer from photosensitive epilepsy you can not use the sunbed.  If you suffer from regular cold sores, we would advise, that using the sunbed could cause them to return.  We also advise any client, not just those wishing to use the sunbed, to be aware of any changes in moles on your face or body.  If you notice any such changes, please seek medical advice.

What can I do to prolong my tan?

We would recommend applying a nourishing moisturiser, this can help extend the life of both a sunbed, natural or self-tan.

How does a self-tan work?

Self-tan uses an ingredient called DHA, which reacts with the air and the amino acids on the surface of the skin, causing the cells on the surface to darken.  Development of the tan takes 6-8 hours.

How long will the self-tan last?

Self-tan, either lotion or spray application lasts for between 5-7 days.

What do I need to do before or bring with me on the day?

The most important part of self-tanning is preparation. Any shaving, waxing, and exfoliating needs to
be done 24 hours before your appointment. The night before your tan, give yourself a thorough
moisturise, pay attention to any usual dry areas, like elbows, knees, shins, and feet.
On the day of your appointment, do not apply any make-up, perfume, moisturiser, or deodorant, and
wear loose dark clothing. We would also advise shoes that don’t cover up your feet.
